Debates, Discussions and Come-ons.

I am going to resist detailing Obama’s visit here, but I will mention that apparently, when he stopped at Duff’s to buy chicken wings, he got hit on by one of the customers.  It’s just too funny.

In more serious news, the Pope is again touting the belief that the most dangerous threats to society are not terrorism and nuclear weapons, but of course, abortion and gay marriage.  I’m gonna give you something I saw on Facebook to think about, at least in terms of Gay Marriage.

So, Larry King is getting his 8th divorce, and Elizabeth Taylor is possibly getting married for the 9th time.  Jesse James and Tiger Woods are…well…you know.  Even Newt Gingrich is on his 3rd marriage.  Yet the idea of same-sex marriage is what’s going to destroy the institute of marriage?  REALLY??

Larry King and his current wife DID file for divorce on April 14th (although they have currently stopped the proceedings, for all those who are fact-checking.)  Almost half of all marriages end in divorce in the United States.  Let’s face it, the institute of marriage was destroyed as soon as they figured out divorce.  Letting people be happy is not a threat to society.  You’re just scared of it.  As for the abortion debate…well, let’s leave that be for now.  Or I’ll just ramble on until the end of time on how stupid it is to try and rule somebody’s life through something you can’t even prove exists.

Also, we should probably keep an eye on Thailand’s politics (timeline), as the protests in Bangkok are turning increasingly bloody.  Especially since a rogue army general who was helping the protesters was shot in the head (he is supposedly in a coma and not dead quite yet.)  The government told the AP, when asked if troops had shot the general

The operation by authorities was according to international standards and law.  So far, we have not found any actions by the authorities that went beyond that.

In other words, yeah they’ve just about assassinated him.  Way to be.  You guys are going to find yourselves in such deep shit just because you want power.  Here’s a hint, if you guys do what the people ask, they keep you in power longer.  And it doesn’t end in blood and your death (because the people will eventually kill you.)

Stupidity strikes once again as a Facebook party (that is, a giant gathering organized on the site) lead to one person dying.  Then again, it’s not because of the party that he died.  No, he’s so totaled that he thinks it’s a good idea to slide down a banister of a stairway on a bridge, so he falls 20-some feet to his death.  Yeah, that’s not the party’s fault.  Everyone else acted responsibly, right?  I’m not hearing about any other arrests or bad conduct.  Don’t blame a party organizer and a social site for people simply acting stupid.  Blame the person, even if he is a “victim.”  It’s his own damn fault anyway.

Also, stupidity on a large scale sees the Customs and Boarder Protection Commissioner not filing the forms for his own immigrated employees.  He claimes that he personally checked out their immigration status’ but didn’t know he was legally required to file the I-9 forms for all of them.  Bullshitting on a national scale folks.  Wanna bet none of them are legal citizens?

In more family-oriented news, a child care study’s findings now link day care time as a toddler to risk-taking behaviors as a teen.  This makes a lot of sense to me, even if parents don’t like it.  See, if you don’t spend time with your child when they are really young and need it more, they will search for that attention in negative ways when they are older.  I know you people need to work, but there has to be something you can do rather than just passing off the responsibility every day for hours on end.  A babysitter is one thing, especially for a couple hours after school when the kids start.  But as pre-school kids, very young children need their parents attention and guidance.  Or when they get older, they’ll just lash out in behavior and emotional responses.  Don’t want a “troubled teen?”  Pay attention to your babies and you’ll have a much better time of things.

And I’m glad to see a trend of girls buying used prom dresses or borrowing them from others.  I was doing it years ago, before it was popular.  My dress was borrowed from a friend’s sister.  It’s a smart thing to do, because the dresses aren’t really good for anything else.  Being thrifty doesn’t make you uncool, it makes you smart.  Go thrifters!  Go DIY-ers too!

Dinner time for the redhead now.  Later Days!

Yet the idea of same-sex marriage is what is going to destroy the institution of marriage? REALLY?!? Feel free to copy and paste if you agree.
